Character:This product is colorless or light yellow clear liquid.

Pharmacological Action:

Pharmacodynamics, Flunixin meglumine is a powerful cyclooxygenase inhibitor with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects. The analgesic effect is caused by inhibiting the synthesis of peripheral prostaglandins or their pain-sensitizing substances or their combined effects, thereby blocking the transmission of pain impulses. The anti-inflammatory effect of peripheral tissues may be caused by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, reducing the formation of prostaglandin precursors, and inhibiting other mediators that cause local inflammatory reactions.

Pharmacokinetics:After a single intramuscular injection of pigs (2.2 mg/kg body weight), the plasma elimination half-life is 3 to 4 hours, the peak concentration is 2.94μg/mL, the peak time is 0.4 hours, and the administration is 18 hours The drug could still be detected in the blood, with an apparent volume of distribution of 2.0L/kg and a bioavailability of 87% from a single neck injection.

Medicine interactions

(1) Flunixin meglumine should not be used together with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, because it will aggravate the toxic and side effects on the gastrointestinal tract, such as ulcers and bleeding.

(2) Due to the high plasma protein binding rate, when used in combination with other drugs, flunixin meglumine may displace other drugs bound to plasma proteins or itself be replaced by other drugs, resulting in an enhanced effect of the replaced drug, or even production of toxicity.

(3) Combined with antibiotics, it can be used as an auxiliary treatment for sow agalactia syndrome.
